Is this game's development abandoned?

Hi! The game's development was not abandoned however, I'm still finding the right time to find the "push" to continue it's progress. Anyway, thank you so much for playing the game :)

(+2)

For anyone struggling with the combination for the cage, here's the right answer:

It wont work

(+1)

Im loving the game, but i´m stuck in the looping classroom, were we always come back to the same place no matter the door we go.

I got the coin and now i can see the time on the clock, but o don´t get wat i have to do now.

(+2)

The clock forms a path you have to follow in order to get out!

(+1)

It took me some time to get it right, but i just got it :) thanks!

You're welcome!

(+1)

Thank you for playing the game :)

(+1)

I like what there is so far, I would say this is an good starting point <3

as me being a new game developer, starting out with a demo would be the best to start to receive feedbacks for the full launch

i keep getting an error when i try to play

i need help w the 4 red tables

my numbers are 6874

(+1)

What about a spanish version. I can help whit that?

Sure, when the game is done, I'll let you know :)

Can you fix the back button. I am using mobile thanks. I think you modified the scene_base button of the system. Then I suggest you should modify the java script on the window panel that will include the back button function. Thanks.

(1 edit)

Hello thanks for the feedback, do you mean the back button on the touchscreen control?

can you please elaborate? thanks!

(+1)

I love how you could guess a twist but it ends and you are just craving for more good job :D

(1 edit)

Stay tuned for the upcoming updates. Many thanks!

(1 edit) (+1)

I can't figure out the puzzle lock. I assume it has something to do with that apology letter but I can't figure out what symbols I'm supposed to be using.

I am really enjoying the demo so far and can't wait to see what the final product will be like.

(1 edit) (+1)

Never mind I figured it out.

Glad you figured it out

(+1)

I'm really enjoying the demo and I am excited for when you release the full game.

(1 edit)

The game is still under 50% progress. It's still a long road ahead but thanks for trying out the game :)

(+1)

now i could end the demo, i am really looking forward for the 2nd floor!

Glad to know you managed to finish the demo! I am planning to make a video walkthrough of it in the future update. Thank you so much for trying out the game. :)

(1 edit) (+1)

No problem I really like horror games with rpg maker, especially when they are not too short. And this one is really interesting.

A walkthrough would be helpful. When will the whole game be released?

(2 edits)

It will be some time before the story and game will be finished as this is a single person project and I am quite busy at the moment but i am glad you enjoyed it. The continuation will be added hopefully by next month.

With regard to the walkthrough, it will be added as soon as possible as there 3 different difficulty for the game. I understand that many players find the puzzles a bit hard though I'm glad to know that it is still possible to be solved without a guide.

(+1)

Ok, now i am stuck at the classrooms' other door with the numbers, i tried every queue that is possible - they must be 24, nothing works

(+1)

O, now i could figure this out, too.

(1 edit) (+1)

I am not sure how to solve the statue riddle

btw - great game so far, for what I can "judge" - only as a player, until now I have not yet made a game by myself (i have an idea about this, but it is in the earliest beginning and by now i have no time to work on it)

(+1)(-1)

ok, i managed it ;)

(+1)

howww

i need help on the hanging lady part

(1 edit)

Are you stucked? Did you encounter any game breaking bug?

(+1)

yeah i cant get pass her in the game any tips

Do you mean you can't get out of the room? Try this:

There are 4 bloody tables within the room, try to examine them to find the hints for the code.

If you are having a hard time dodging her, make sure to bait her before running so that you'll have ample amount of time to avoid being cornered as she can phase through things and walls. I also suggest playing using a keyboard as playing using the touchscreen is a bit cluncky in this part. If you still have trouble beating her, let me know.

i cant get the code right

(1 edit)

Did your write down the numbers? Can you tell me the 4 numbers (including any symbol if there are any.) that you saw? I'll help you with the solution.

I really like this game so far, so I hope you continue to work on it! There are a few grammatical and spelling errors here and there, but otherwise it's well thought out and holds a lot of potential. I think that a walkthrough of the game would be helpful have too. Depending on the individuals who play the game, some of the riddles and puzzles could end up being more or less difficult, especially when considering how they answered the questions at the beginning of the game. I've seen some people in the comments asking about how to solve or figure out certain aspects of the gameplay, so that signaled to me that maybe a walkthrough or a few hints here and there may be helpful to have for some players. Other than that, I hope that you can find more ideas, time, and maybe even more people to help you develop the game, because I know that with more resources and manpower, you could make this an absolutely incredible game. You've already made a really amazing game all by yourself so far, so with a bit more time, work, and maybe some more input or help in the development, you could go a long way with this game!

Thank you so much for your feedback! With regard to the grammar, I really need some help with that as english is not my native language so my apologies for that. In terms of the puzzles, Fortunately, I'm in the process of making a video walkthrough of the game to help the players who are stucked on certain puzzles as there are 3 difficulty settings within the game that changes depending on the answers provided at the beginning. I appreciate your suggestion and hoping you play the upcoming updates for the game. :) have you managed to finish the demo? Just wondering :)

(1 edit) (+1)

please can i see the peek of the next update on game????

(1 edit)

Hi! The continuation of the game is already in development, make sure to check back for more updates. Many thanks!

(3 edits) (+1)

I've finished the game and loved it. thank you for making the game but you should add a little story of the peek of the next part at end of the credits. and loved the title screen I kind of think dean, and kyle is kind of cute😚😘😅 but too bad he's not real 🥺😟😫😭. but I hope you do more your really talented at the game and drawing. 👍👍👍 ( and milo is adroble 🥺😭)

(+1)

and I think the blue-haired guy and redhead is kyles mom and dad. so I think that Dean was shoved in the locker years ago but the blue hair guy was the one who ripped the redhead's doll head off and then makes her marry him by kidnapping Dean and put him in the locker there for cursing the school. let me know if I'm right. 👍👍😁

Very interesting theory you got there! All secrets will eventually be unfolded on the continuation of the story. :)

Hello! Thank you so much for checking out my game! (this is actually my very first playable game made using rpg maker) I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Unfortunately the game is on hold as of now but rest assured that the game will be continued! Again, thank you so much! :)

(3 edits)

Yes. Try hiding in one of the locker on the storage room. I'm going to add a hint mechanic so that players will not be confused on the objectives.

(+1)

wait so can you like unlock the cage yet

Yes you can.

Hi guys I just recently finish the game and I want to share my review. For me this is the most ambitious game that i've played so far. The character artwork is awesome and hey the dog milo is so cute too... The gameplay is great and i love the idea of handling the difficulty of puzzles. I also love the soundtrack and it was heavily fit to the game.

The game was playable from beginning till the end and I am encouraging everyone to try this demo game.

For those who already played the game in some early stages, i also encourage you to visit dwelling nightmares again

Cheers..

Played a bit of your game, unfortunately I didn't get too far because I kept dying when the first monster appeared.

Here's my feedback:

PROS:

  • Builds up atmosphere really well!
  • Good mapping
  • Nice doggo
  • Nice edits of the RTP, really made the game feel more unique
  • Your custom artwork is awesome

CONS:

  • The character walks too slowly
  • Cutscenes feel pretty long without adding tension
  • Chase scene was frustrating, hard to tell what you're supposed to do

ENCOUNTERED BUGS/ISSUES:

  • when entering the candelabra room for the first time, the mobile buttons appear for some reason, even though I'm playing on a computer (they stayed for my entire playthrough)
  • when using the rusted key item, it goes to show to use it on the player instead of just using it
  • dialogue when trying to enter mom's room never changes even when you no longer need to go to the kitchen
  • at some point after Milo's bark is heard main character's face disappears from the item menu (when trying to use the rusted key)
  • a few grammatical errors (but unfortunately I forgot to write them down)

Overall, it was a fun experience, a lot could be improved upon. It's very impressive for being made by one person/a small team, feels pretty professional. This game has a lot of potential, so don't stop working on it! :D

(1 edit) (+2)

Thank you for checking the game, a lot could still be improved and I'll do my best to make it better. I appreciate your feedback. I'll upddate the dialogues and bugs to have a much better gaming experience.

All of your concern about the game are noted and I'll take actions to improve it/fix it!

Many thanks!

Hi there! Thank you so much for checking the game! Looks like there are still bugs in the game so I'm sorry that you have encountered them in your playthrough, though most of the bugs are now fixed in this version (v1.2). I just subscribed to your channel and hoping you to continue the story :)

Thank you so much again for playing Dwelling Nightmares!

hi hi! at a certain point of the game around the time where you leave after getting the art room key and the one scene where you get chased by the monster, there is this continuous pop up saying that the skin or something wont load for the character (specifically when you pick up the boxes it seems) and i had even gotten to the point where i could leave the room and it just wouldn't stop saying it couldn't load the skin, which because of the fact i couldn't leave the room made your game unplayable past that part :( i'm really enjoying what i did play though!

Hi there, thanks for checking the game out, the fix has already been made to that part of the game and you can continue your save file (if any) from before that point. Sorry for that, I really appreciate your feedback, I'll make a changelog later to set the new changes and bug fixes in the game. :)

Hi there. I played your demo.

As someone else said, it is decent so far. From what I’m assuming is a new dev and working solo, seems like a good start.

I played it using mobile controls to clarify. (I appreciate you adding multiple control types).

Here is my feedback:

Graphically, you did a good job with the pixel art, as well as putting your own take on the RTP graphics. I like the talk sprites and graphics for notes. The music is well chosen and atmospheric. (I saw the dev name cameo on the poster in the protagonist’s room, nice touch!)

Gameplay wise, it’s pretty ok. The puzzle solving aspects are quite traditional (including game overs too) and function well. Though I wish it took you straight back to the title screen when you die instead of the menu for choosing controls (just a minor annoyance). Some of the flavour text when examining objects seems a bit bland. Though the section with the test questions seems interesting, I’m curious how it affects the gameplay/story.

However I did encounter a missing file error when exiting the (basement?); here is a screenshot (I’ve encountered bugs like these in various RPG maker games before.) So I couldn’t finish the whole thing unfortunately.

Here are a few typos I found (I don’t want to sound rude, I’m assuming English may not be your first language or it is and errors just happen sometimes!)

The first part of the mother’s letter should read “There is some leftover steak in the fridge.”

The description for the matchbox says “matchebox”

“Praise for our loses” on the school poster should be “losses”

A few other bits of text and dialogue are a little off but nothing major. The text is pretty well proofread otherwise (I recommend getting someone else to as well).

I hope you found my feedback useful and not overly negative. I do realise this is a WIP project. Anyway, I think you’ve done a good job on your demo, and I wish you good luck with the full game (always nice to see more RPG horror games!)

(1 edit) (+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback, I really do appreciate it. I'll take a closer look on the dialogues, I'm not a native english speaker so I expect this kind of feedback from other players. About the bug encountered, it is a call for a non existent image, would you be kind to elaborate where did you encounter it? So I can fix it?

I want to make the demo as perfect as possible before continuing the story. The game has elements of idle animation and other cool features but can't be included in the demo as the file limit for html are very small

Again, thank you so much for checking the game, more features will be added. Bugs and dialogues as well as proper grammar for the game will be checked in the future updates. :)

Oh and I forgot to mention, this is the very first game I've managed to complete (Demo) in rpg maker, so I'm very happy to see other people playing my game. :)

(1 edit) (+1)

I am a bit shy to ask this but, would you like to help me develop this game?

I mean you could help me proofread the game and provide suggestions about making unique puzzles and not like the usual "fetch this and get that" kind of stuff, though I can't provide you anything aside from including you as a co-developer.

I'm just making this game out of my free time so I am not 100% fully invested to it but I'll make sure that all of my efforts will not be wasted or be discarded like many other projects I have created before.

You can PM me if you are interested. :)

Have a great day!

Pretty decent so far

Thank you for checking the game out. It is still in development and bugs will be fixed. The story will continue however, It will be only available through downloading the game as the html serves only as a platform for the demo. Check back again sometimes to see what other changes will be implemented in the game.

Thank you again for checking it out. :)
